Upgrading or Downgrading

You can change your BuildChart plan at any time from your account settings. Whether you need more capacity as your business grows or want to scale down during a slow season, the process is straightforward.

How to Change Your Plan

Go to Account > Billing > Change Plan. You will see all available tiers with your current plan highlighted. Select the plan you want to switch to and confirm the change.

Upgrading

When you upgrade, the change takes effect immediately. All features from the new tier are available right away — you do not need to log out or refresh. You are charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing period based on the difference between your old and new plan. Starting with the next billing cycle, you are charged the full new rate.

For example, if you upgrade from Starter ($49/month) to Pro ($99/month) halfway through your billing period, you pay $25 for the remaining half-month at the Pro rate. Your next full bill will be $99.

Downgrading

When you downgrade, the change takes effect at the start of your next billing period. You keep all features of your current tier until then, so there is no disruption to your workflow.

If your current usage exceeds the limits of your new tier — for example, you have 8 active projects but are downgrading to Starter which allows 5 — you will be prompted to archive or delete projects before the downgrade takes effect. BuildChart will not force-remove any data, but the downgrade cannot proceed until your usage fits within the new tier's limits.

📝 Note

If you downgrade and have more projects than your new tier allows, you will be prompted to archive projects before the change takes effect. Archived projects are not deleted — they remain accessible in read-only mode.

Cancellation

If you cancel your subscription, your account stays active until the end of the current billing period. After that, you can still log in and view your data, but editing is disabled. You cannot create new tasks, update statuses, or invite team members.

Your data is retained according to the data retention policy. You can export your projects at any time, even after cancellation, as long as the retention period has not expired.

Reactivating After Cancellation

To reactivate, simply go to Account > Billing and select a plan. Your existing data and projects will be restored to full editing access immediately. No data is lost during the cancelled period.
